In this beautiful palace of Bucaco I was many times before. It lies 2 km from the Baths of Luso (central Portugal) on the top of a hill that serves as a nature park called "The Enchanted Forest". Currently the Palace is a 5 star hotel with 62 rooms with bathroom, telephone, TV, AC, restaurant, bars, lounges, chapel, and gardens, lovely gardens that can be visited by anyone in the imposing altar nature (105 has walled) where this former Carmelite monastery is now a hotel. I have to say that I never stayed there, but if you have visited many times at different times of the year, and although it is now a bit neglected it has a mosaic in one of its balconies and striking architecture. Built in the late 19th century neo-Manueline style, this palace represented in the cultural context època nationalist ideology and romanticism. The large predominantly blue tiles adorning the hallways of the large balconies are Jorge Colaço and paintings of the palace of the famous artist Antonio Ramalho.
This former palace is now a hotel. I've been a few times (I think it was three times) and it is a very nice hotel with lovely staff. Remember to make a reservation at the Burgo Restaurant, of the best I've found. This hotel Meliá Palacio de lousa, has been declared a Historical Heritage site. Located in the center of the town of Lousa, it has 46 rooms, each with a bathroom, air conditioning, telephone, mini-bar, TV and safe. They also have a nice pool and a parking lot at the back of the hotel. The palace consists of an old wing (the Palace itself) and a new wing decorated in a modern style and good taste. It is a four star hotel including a great buffet breakfast with views of the mountains to recuperate and then to visit Nuestra Señora De Piedade, a couple of miles from hotel. Enjoy eating at the Burgo Restaurant and allow yourself to be seduced by the natural environment.
We spent two days staying in Aveiro in the hotel Jardim Aveiro. Charming, about two hundred meters from the center where the Forum shopping centre and the canals are. Three star hotel, very comfortable, recently renovated, not being central, no noise, good breakfast buffet and the staff so very friendly in reception and restaurant. Quality excellent price. I recommend it.
Of all the hotels we've seen, this undoubtedly had the best located, next to the estuary where the Moliceiros attract tourists. It had a good breakfast buffet, and don't forget to ask for rooms with views over the estuary. The interior has photos on display of what the hotel used to look like in the last century. The rooms have WiFi, and the hotel has a lounge with views and an unbeatable external image, photographically speaking, which, along with the location, are its main assets. The price is well within the leading ones in this city, though a little high compared to its neighbours. The first day was not good, hence the pictures are grey.
This small and friendly hotel is less than 5 minutes from the sandy beach, next to the casino and in an area full of restaurants and terraces. It's not bad for a 3-star but the wifi coverage is seriously wrong . And the connections of the light switches are not very well made, so if you turn out the light from the side of the bed can only turn back from that side. The breakfast buffet was varied, but the coffee was not very good.
During our trip to the so-called Venice of Portugal, we stayed at the Mercure Aveiro hotel, which is quite close to the train station and the centre, where most of the places of interest are concentrated. The traffic is quite a problem, so getting around by car is a bit of an ideal. We left the car in a private car park, but it was pretty expensive. The building is a restored mansion, with luminous patios and gardens where guests can eat breakfast. The room was quite spacious, although dark and somewhat noisy, as it was located next to the elevator. The noise was quite annoying, so we asked if we could change rooms, but as it was August and they were full, it was impossible. That didn't seem right to me, as we had booked more than three months in advance, and besides, we were staying for an extended stay (four months). The service wasn't very friendly in general, in the reception, buffet, and restaurant (incidentally, the buffet was quite badly stocked, with just sausages, yogurt and fruit). The sheets, at least were clean, and the gardens were nice and peaceful.
Personally I didn´t find it to be a 4 star hotel, especially the rooms (and that´s with 2x2 beds) and the cradle was broken as well as some furniture in the room and the bathroom was basic. I have no complaint about breakfast as it was quite varied. Well, as the price was reasonable (79 € / night for a double room with breakfast) we can not complain ...
Quinta da Lagoa is a hotel resort with typical hotel romos and some fully furnished, colonial style apartments (villas). Quinta da Lagoa is located very near Aveiro, close to a beautiful lake with beach sand. The charming resort offers outdoor pools, restaurant, bar, tennis courts, and even a beach on a lake with boats. The ideal place for the summer and for meetings and social events. There are lounges with a capacity for 1000 people. As you can see rooms have telephone, hairdryer, satellite TV, etc Although I was there just a few days ago, I know there are lots of activities in summer too. The place is beautiful and very well priced, so I recommend it as closeby there is a long beach and dunes.
This four star hotel in the Sierra de Caramulo, is regarded extremely highly and it's very well decorated. It has 87 rooms all with bathroom, telephone, TV, minibar, safe and air conditioning. It also has a good restaurant, bar, meeting rooms, gym, sauna, jacuzzi, an indoor and outdoor swimming pool, and good parking facilities. The best attributes of the hotel are the views and indoor pool, as the outdoor pool is a bit small, also the breakfast buffet is very good. It's worth taking a trip to the Automobile Museum, opposite the hotel. Not far from the hotel, just a couple of miles away is the Caramuliño, a lovely viewing point that's over a thousand feet high. And to regain the energy lost throughout the day's exhertions, I recommend dinner at the restaurant near the hotel Montanha.
As is usual in the Ibis chain, this hotel is very well-located for visiting the city - five minutes walk from the tourist office. Most of the tourist attractions are in the upper part of the old city, so going uphill is sadly inevitable. There is parking available, and it's very cheap. It's a large hotel, and the public areas haven't been recently renovated. But the beds, on the other hand, are large and comfortable. We were on the top floor, where we were undisturbed by the traffic. Breakfast is good, with plenty of time and a wide range of products, including fresh orange juice. There's free wifi, and the staff are attentive and helpful. When the refurbishment is complete, it will be a truly great hotel.
Not long ago I was back at the Residencial Maçarico. The treatment is very friendly and they're very attentive to their guests, so much so that the moment they hear you open the door in the morning open the door to your room they're already making coffee! The views are awesome, it's just beside the sea. In August it's a bit chaotic. Cheers!
This establishment is a lovely 4 star hotel, away from the hustle and bustle of the city and situated on the top of a hill, near the castle of Castelo Branco. You can reach it via the city center both by road and from the stairs that are situated near the castle. The views from the rooms are of two types: there are rooms which are facing the hotel entrance whose views are not particularly nice, and others that have magnificent views of the town. The rooms are large, with a small terrace where you can enjoy a drink or dinner ... The hotel has an indoor pool and jacuzzi, and hammocks on the piece of grass between the pool and the road (there´s almost nobody on that road so here it is pretty quiet)
The Quinta das Lágrimas in Coimbra is a charming hotel. It stands on the Mondego river, on the opposite bank from the city centre, but close to a footbridge and with a good view over the old town and the university. The history of the gardens dates back to the fourteenth century, and legend has it that the park and its springs was the site of the love story between Don Pedro and Ines de Castro. The hotel stands in a nineteenth century palace with an attached modern building containing rooms, a restaurant and a spa with an indoor pool. The older rooms have more history, but the bathrooms are nicer in the modern part. Breakfast, included in the price, is a joy. By the outdoor pool and the gardens, you can choose everything from fruits and juices to assorted pastries, cheeses and meats. The hotel is evocative, and you'll feel like you're in an old movie. On the ground floor, there is a luxury restaurant called Arcades, which has a Michelin star. The grounds are fantastic, with iconic tree species and specimens of more than 100 years, including two giant sequoias planted by the Duke of Wellington.
The Hotel Cristal Vieira Praia & Spa offers a total of 100 rooms, all of which have sea views, in order to make your stay more enjoyable, you can contemplate the beauty of it every day. It lso has an incredible Suite that can be accessed by two elevators. All of this for your comfort, and it is certainly one of the most amazing places to visit. The city of Leiria is beautiful.
This hotel consists of two buildings - a new one housing the reception, and an older building, a renovated house typical of this area. There's a free underground parking lot. The reception is very stylish, with friendly staff, and the rooms are well-decorated. In short, we had a great experience here, and would recommend it.
This colonial style hotel is located in the centre of Portugal, about 25 km from Coimbra, in the famous spa town of Curia with a large lake and 14 hectare park. The hotel has just over 100 rooms with bathroom, television, phone, safe and air conditioning. The rooms are spacious and the marble bathrooms are fully equipped for a 3 star rated hotel. The breakfast is buffet style and the best parts about the hotel are: the great Lake with ducks and swans, the grove-so peaceful, the spa, and the large playground, making it ideal for families with children. Highly recommended and very good prices, you have to go there to enjoy it, and try their food (like the pork and typical regoinal wines). The "Lechon" is the signature dish of the area. A few kilometers away is the town of Luso, known for its hot springs and the no less famous and spectacular Buçaco Palace, nowadays a five star hotel.
The Curia Palace Hotel and Spa was and still is a palace that today houses a large hotel and one of the best in Portugal, surrounded by a large private park with gardens and a large outdoor swimming pool of 600 square meters, a gym and spa facilities. Curia Palace Hotel is a 4 star Art Deco hotel, which is situated between the cities of Aveiro and Coimbra and a few miles away from another great palace the [poi = 31266] "Bussaco Palace" [/ poi]. There is a small exhibition of old photographs where you can admire the antiquities and towering ceilings and the imposing facade of the Palace. The rooms are spacious and offer all the comforts of a 4 star hotel, including marble bathrooms equipped with a hairdryer and toiletries. The rooms are decorated in warm colors and using natural fabrics. I highly recommend that you go during low season as it has some great prices. You are sure to go back..
A charming hotel with spectacular genuine service. The place is a paradise surrounded by a unique landscape; there is no comparison in tranquility, service, food, health ... A small space but with a very good comfort in Serra da Estrela, in Manteigas and close to Torre, the highest part of Portugal.
We stayed at this hotel when we visited Coimbra, but if I'm honest, I can say that I would never stay here again. What attracted us was the price, especially as our child could stay for free. The hotel itself is fine - quite dated, but fine. The main problem is the location. They say it's just 2km from Coimbra, but the truth is that it's completely isolated, and unless you bring your own vehicle, you'll be entirely cut off. There are no restaurants, no bars, no nothing - so every night you'll have to take your car to go out for dinner, and you should be aware that the traffic in Coimbra is terrible, by both day and night. Bottlenecks everywhere - horrendous! The rooms were quite spacious and very clean, although I didn't like the carpet. As for breakfast, it was a decent, well-stocked buffet with ham, and even champagne!
The Quinta da Cerejeira Apartment is a complex of modest, yet spacious apartments that are superbly equipped for a relaxing stay. In the vicinity and can see many natural areas as Lake Castelo de Bode. Also it is close to lots of places to walk around and know the most interesting places of this beautiful city.
Set in a tranquil oasis amid the murmur of birds singing, and the sound of river water, is the Hotel Casa Da Nora. The Casa Da Nora was originally built as a restaurant, and rebuilt to provide accommodation for travellers. A cozy little place for those looking to visit Leiria and the surroundings.
The Quinta De Salguero is in the northeast of Portugal, near the Spanish border. Its location, in the International Douro Natural Park, is excellent. The Douro River is known for its vineyards because it's the birthplace of the internationally known port wine. It's an ideal place that offers unforgettable scenery, fresh air, beautiful scenery and the special addition of port.
Coutada Rural Hotel is a beautiful place that is located in the city of Atouguia of Whale, in the Portuguese province of Lisbon. The facilities are very well maintained, allowing you to feel very comfortable and able to make the most of your time. The rooms are very quiet and you will be happy you made this choice.
The Hotel Conde de Agueda is a fabulous place that is situated in the city of Gueda, Portugal. It offers a total of 28 double rooms, one of which is adapted for disabled guests, and all are soundproofed. You'll have a great time.
H2otel, is a typical mountain hotel that is surrounded by natural spaces where we can enjoy time with our family, and outdoor activities. Hotel capacity: a total of 90 fully equipped rooms, most of them with views of the prettiest scenery offered by nature.
The Hotel Império offers in each room air conditioning, bathrobes, daily newspaper, desk and hairdryer. There's 24hr room service, elevator, bar, laundry service, meeting facilities and a very nice restaurant. It's modern and has a spa for guests. 3 stars.
The 4-star Curia Palace Hotel and Spa was, and still is, a palace that today houses one of the best hotels in Portugal, surrounded by a large private park with gardens and a large outdoor swimming pool (600 square meters),gym and spa facilities.
