    napoleon hostel moscow
    Youth Hostels in
    Moscow
One of the referred hostels in Moscow, it's a cheap place to stay and just a 10 minute walk from the Red Square, where the Trans-Siberian travelers and backpackers in general have a very central location, metro 1 minute away, the hostel is considered the best in Russia, but has just average service, it only has a couple of showers, you can buy drinks inside, and it has a kitchen.

    hilton moscow leningradskaya hotel
    Hotels in
    Moscow
This is one of the Stalinist skyscrapers. This is the newest and smallest of all of them, and has a Hilton hotel inside. It's ideal for those who can afford it and who come from St. Petersburg, Siberia, Mongolia and China as it sits right between the three stations. Be careful because the neighborhood is a little is on the outskirts and there aren't many shops around. The Hilton is new because the job still isn't finished yet and the reopening date is still unknown. However, it's sure we can expect an increase in rates, which are already expensive in Moscow. The location of the three stations (or Komsomolskaya) is connected by the metro of the same name.

    fontaka apartment
    Apartments in
    Saint Petersburg
A great discovery we were lucky to make! You can rent the apartment online before you go - a beautiful and spacious apartment of 50m2, very centrally located in the most prestigious area of the city, known as the "Golden Triangle", where Tsars and nobles once lived, today home to the main tourist attractions, palaces and museums. It is situated on the Fontanka (one of the most beautiful canals in the city), 200 metres from Nevsky prospect (the main street). In the nearby streets you can find numerous restaurants, bars, clubs, and cafes for all tastes. Next door is a good supermarket, open 24 hours a day. The apartment has one bedroom, a lounge, a kitchen and a bathroom with bathtub. For sleeping there is a double bed in the bedroom and a double sofa bed in the lounge. In total there are 4 places to sleep, but the apartment would be ideal for 1-3 people. There's a TV, and the kitchen is equipped with a large refrigerator, an electric stove, microwave, toaster, and coffee maker. The apartment has a washing machine, an iron and ironing board, and a hair dryer. It has a computer with ADSL internet. The apartment is equipped with all the utensils when you arrive, including kitchenware, linens, towels, soap, toilet paper. There is a single system of hot water (electric heater). Central heating. The apartment is on the 3rd floor, no elevator. The entrance is from the courtyard, and the staircase is locked with an electronic lock. Conditions vary depending on the number of nights.

    godzillas hostel
    Youth Hostels in
    Moscow
This hostel is famous among backpackers and is located about 20 minutes walk from Red Square. The accommodation in Moscow is quite expensive and this hostel isn't going to be any different. The price per night will be around 20 € in a shared room of 8 people. The beds are pretty uncomfortable and there are only two showers per floor. You also have wifi access and a couple of computers with internet you can use for free.

It is the best and most classic hotel in this exciting and vibrant city. Five star luxury, an elegant decor, exquisite service, and located in the center, next to Nevsky Avenue and Opera Square. It occupies a huge baroque building from the early nineteenth century. The price is from $250 a night.

    Moscow
This hotel is located in the huge Prospekt Mira Avenue, near the station of the same name. It was inaugurated for the 1980 Olympics. It is quite large, as are most Soviet-era buildings. It has 1777 rooms and is 100 meters high. On the ground floor you will find some restaurants, cafes, casinos, bars ... The price of a double room in high season is at least 160 €. Personally, I only know one thing for certain about the hotel: the restaurant is on the top floor. It offers a magnificent view of the VDNX, across from Prospekt Mira, and the Ostankino Tower, which features nice lighting at night, but the prices are exorbitant for a simple kitchen. Be sure to note that depending on where the table is, a good view is not guaranteed.

    izmailovo gamma-delta hotel
    Hotels in
    Moscow
It's a cheap option to stay over in Moscow if don't count the youth hostels. The Izmailovo hotel complex is genuinely communist. Several giant concrete blocks that come together to include about 2,000 rooms. There are a variety of prices and rooms but it's cheaper than in Moscow. The problem it's that far from the center but easily accessed by metro.

    sabrina hostel
    Hostels in
    Saint Petersburg
Warning to mariners: this is not a luxury hotel. This is like any other hostel, that many you can find in St. Petersburg, Moscow and other Russian cities. A "big flat" becomes a haven for backpackers with a bedroom of 4 or 8 beds, bunk beds and, fortunately, there are several bathrooms and showers (some not so common in other hostels I've been seeing throughout the country). The Hostal Sabrina is therefore a decent place, but it has two things going for it: the price (11 euros a night in a room with 8 beds ... not bad for St. Petersburg) and location, five minutes from the lively Plaza Sennaya, and 10-15 from then Nevsky Prospekt, the Hermitage Museum, and even more. You will never need to take public transportation as St. Petersburg is very easy to navigate since you just follow the channel! Some disadvantages include: no small lounge area with sofas or a comfortable seat for socializing, reading or surfing the Internet outside the room. You can go to the kitchen/dining room, but it is downstairs and there a weaker wifi signal. The price includes a modest breakfast of bread, jam, butter, and depending on the day, a bun or "porridge". It's nothing fancy, but it does the job. Anyway, five meters away, on the corner, there is a 24 hour supermarket where you can anything. In short, I recommend it. I spent about 5 days there and never had intentions to move. Are there better things in St. Petersburg? Surely, but for that price, I'm not positive. In addition, the atmosphere is pretty good, both with the other guests (well, that is a matter of luck, as always) and with people from the hostel. Ah! Finding it can be somewhat difficult. The address is Voznesensky pr. 41, in theory "lossless", but the site is located in an interior courtyard that can go unnoticed to the naked eye, and there is no sign outside to tell that there's a hostel (quite normal in Russia, on the other hand ... to avoid inspections, permits payments, etc.). So leave a couple of photos, both of the road (the entrance to the courtyard is at the height of the yellow sign), and the patio. Once there, the "portal" is the first thing on the right. It's a little scary at first, but it passes quickly.

This hotel is a good alternative in the south. It's a real 3 star hotel just 10 meters from the "Avtozavodskaya" Metro on the green line. It shares a building with a business centre. It's clean, comfortable, functional, and practically new. There's also service in English. The good breakfast is included. There are many bars, restaurants and cafes for a good price in the area.

Although its name indicates Hotel, in reality it is a "bed and breakfast", as it is a floor where the rooms have been set to welcome guests. I must say that is central, and the best choice for money if you want a budget hotel without sharing a room, but definitely the best of the hostel are the owners, mother and daughter, they run their business in a very family and which will make you feel at home.

The Art House Hotel is in the historic center of Irkutsk, and within walking distance to the train station, the bus station and the airport. The decor is very kitsch which makes it a quirky place to stay. It's fairly inexpensive (as the city is quite expensive) if you do not want to share a room, and it is very central.

Sleeping in Nikita's Homestead is an experience no one should miss if you are on the lake Baikal. It is famous mainly for having been featured in the Lonely Travel guide, but this has not made it stop improving. It currently offers, apart from accommodation, excursions around the island, with local group shows every night, and a family atmosphere. The price includes a room, and full board. Do not miss the bath in a traditional Bania!

    metropol hotel

    Moscow
Undoubtedly one of the best and most luxurious hotels in Moscow. A short walk from Red Square and the Bolshoi, this hotel has had an excellent reputation for quite some time. It is famous for hosting several 19th century celebrities. I can't really tell you about the quality of the hotel, but the building itself is remarkable. There's a huge glass roof above the hotel, very art-nouveau style, and it looks great in the landscape. It also has amazing frescoes and mosaics done and signed by Vrubel that adorn the top of the building. Take time to observe the works of art, since the place is very nice in the summer. Sit and rest a bit, unless you prefer to go to one of the three restaurants.

Located in the heart of Moscow, opposite the Duma, on Tverskaya, is one of the most lovely and oldest monuments in the city. Obviously, this is a high-end hotel managed by Le Meridien. The frescoes at the top of the building are examples of Art Nouveau architecture in the Russian capital. The building dates from the year 1903.

Located on Tversakaya Street. Unfortunately, I couldn't judge the quality of the hotel (although the reception was perfect), I can advise people to walk around the top floor with great views of the Red Square at night because the buildings are always well lit. No need to pay to enter, the bar is called O2, and there's no need to order anything. However, if you feel the urge to have a small cafe to relax, the price of coffee is 200 rubles or € 5.40!

Ideal location. Not a deisgner hotel, and a bit kitsch, but the rooms are large and comfortable. Better to avoid the rooms on the first floor, as there's a nightclub downstairs. Ask for a room higher up, and you won't have a problem. It has a great quality : price ratio and is five minutes walk from the Kremlin. Nearby is a shopping centre, salon, nightclub and restaurants. A perfect destination if you want to see the most beautiful sights in Moscow without spending an hour on the subway. The hotel has a fitness centre with jacuzzi and sauna for 10 euros. Breakfast is decent.

    Moscow
This Moscow hotel, bought by an Armenian couple a few years ago, is located on the banks of the Moskva river, not far from the Kiev railway station and just in front of the seat of the Russian government. It's currently undergoing renovation - when I stayed there, it had an excellent quality : price ratio, but I can't say anything about what it'll be like in the future! the building is still impressive, though. The nearest Metro station is Kievskaya, but it will take about ten minutes to reach the hotel. The building is illuminated at night, and is one of the best views on the bridge across Novy Arbat.

City Comfort is about a 10-minute walk from Red Square and 5 minutes from the metro station. The location is very strategic: in the center of Moscow, but at the same time, on a small side street that ensures peace and quiet during the night. The hotel has just undergone a radical change, so rooms are brand new and well equipped. Bathroom small, but functional. Cleanliness excellent. The reception is a bit small, but it has free wifi and a mini-bar; excellent value for money.
