This is a somewhat casual vegetarian restaurant which is located on the first floor of a building with a hotel (to get to the restaurant, in fact, you must climb the stairs, taking care to find the correct door which is not clearly shown). The restaurant windows offer great views of the street, where the place can be easily spotted by looking at the building on the opposite side of the road. The furniture is a bit casual, but very sophisticated, with plenty of tables, and walls fully decorated with simple, but colorful drawings that make the place feel very nice. The menu is varied, and there's always a daily special to choose from. All dishes provide high quality, and original food, and the portions are very generous.
The Veda House has a relaxing vaguely oriental atmosphere with sofas around tables arranged on a large carpet where you can get comfortable after removing your shoes. They serve a vast selection of black and green teas in cute teapots decorated with with cows, a similar motif that also decorates the outside walls. Quiet and perfect place for a relaxing getaway. Also good if you are vegetarian.
There are lots of bars along Sofia's Boulevard Vitosha, but my favorite place for an evening drink is definately the Green Bar. There are comfy seats looking out over the avenue and aside from drinks, they serve a tasty selection of frappes, ice creams, snacks and non-alcoholic fruit cocktails. Friendly service and lots of young people.
Art Club Museum is a trendy modern cafe located behind Sofia's archaeological museum. My favorite part is the shaded terrace overlooking some of the ancient artifacts scattered about. It's the perfect place for a quiet lunch. They also have two dining rooms inside and a lively bar with good music in the evenings.
If you have not visited the United States or linked donuts to there, here you can taste delicious, very famous donuts from American chain Dunkin Donuts. Tasty and low cost. It's kind of self service. The rooms small, but has a few tables where you sit. They offer a wide variety, from classics donuts filled with creamc or chocolate decorated and cream filled.
At Bomato Jeood, there is no sign but all who pass by can't help but stop and gaze at the display window full of cakes and pies. It's a cute, tiny place (only four tables) but you can savor some excellent pastries and desserts, or get them to go. My favorites were the cottage cheese cake with berries and the chocolate cake with nuts. Amazing!
Raffy Bar & Gelato is a young and dynamic bar that's open all day in downtown Sofia. It's a great place for breakfast in the morning, an aperitif before lunch, or even an after dinner cocktail. The staff is young and the clientele tend to be young, trendy, and informal. They also have a large outdoor terrace for when the weather is nice. There's 90's pop on the radio to keep the atmosphere festive.
This pizza chain is all over Sofia, which is the perfect place to eat a rapid snack. The pizzas are really great, average size, and costs less than 3 lev, which is equivalent to only 1.5 euros. The pizzas are made on the spot, and are quickly ready to be served. You'll have to choose; if you have time I recommend the whole. Besides pizzas, there are other things that seem very attractive to the eye.
