One of the few if not the only option to eat cheaply in Galway. It's an old place (founded in the early 1900s, if I remember correctly). As I mentioned before, Ireland is not a cheap place to eat, although this place is. To give you an idea of what I'm talking about, a pack of mayonnaise or ketchup on we can go for €1 ...
Looking for somewhere to eat well in Galway? Somewhere quiet? Friendly service? Not too expensive? The restaurant at Galway City Museum, by the famous Spanish Arch, is for you! We were looking to get away from the hustle and bustle of the street and the excessively greasy dishes that you can find in all too many restaurants in Ireland, and we found it! The restaurant is at the bottom of the building, and offers fusion cuisine (Arabic, Asian, Mediterranean ...) made up of premium products, organic, and mostly local. We had tap water to drink (garnished with a few sprigs of mint), and the bill came to 9.50 per person. Believe me, it's pretty good. They also have a selection of delicious-looking homemade cakes, perfect for relaxing with a cup of tea or coffee on one of those rainy afternoons that are all too common in Galway.
Small two-story restaurant serving traditional Irish food in the Latin Quarter. It is a cozy place and the service is quite fast. The wine is cheap and the portions are large. It also has an outdoor terrace.
This natural products shop is very important in Ireland. It's on Mainguard Street in Galway city center, right at the end of a very busy shopping street. It is a two storey shop with a large selection of natural products for any need. They also have a website that ships to all parts of Ireland.
Now to be clear, I have sat outside and ate on a restaurant patio many times in my life. Never ever have I ever been given a cozy, fuzzy blanket to wrap around me while sitting outside. What an amazing idea! Only in Ireland...
The blanket was not the best part by far. They had a great selection of different Irish craft beers to choose from and everything was extremely organic! There are even vegan in addition to vegetarian options. And delicious! My mom loved it as a vegan.
Ok now....vegan and veggie stuff aside....I must say hands down....One of the best TOP burgers I have ever had. And it was outside the US!! It was 100% Irish beef. And it tasted like it! It was a mix between a beef patty and sausage taste. It was full of flavor and it was like that on its own not even mentioning the delicious toppings that the kitchen put on top. We had sweet potato fries and it came with cute side salad which I personally think should come with every meal!
I did not particularly like the beer I had but I did have quite a few Irish craft brews to choose from which was really cool coming from my American craft beer background. Everything from the atmosphere to the cutting board plates to the food was amazing! Go here...it is well worth it!
